Manifesto
The Ancient Order of Arcanes is an elite group of practitioners of
the Magicks, with a long and honorable history dating far back into
the days of the old clans. The Arcanes, one of the earliest of the
peaceful clans, stood apart from the fray and strove to hold the
beacon of light and knowledge proudly aloft in a darkening world.
To this day, we strive to excel ourselves in all fields of magicks,
and we welcome all those who follow this objective.

Members live by, and live up to, a demanding Code of Conduct which
requires teamwork and cooperation among members, and honor and fair
dealing in the outside world. The Arcanes reside in a castle created
out of the fabric of magic itself, which stands as a testimony to
Arcanes' power and strength.

Arcanes try to master the knowledge of the ever-changing world about
them by means of their magicks. We use our strength and power not only
in battle, but to help our fellow Arcane members in any way.
Our magicks are strong, and rarely do we taste defeat.
/////\
//////\\ Since the beginning of time, all mortal
///////\\\ beings have attempted to understand the
////////\\\\ cosmos. However, the very fabric of life,
/////////\\\\\ woven in chaos and disorder, has always
/////////\\\\\\\ seemed elusive. For the Ascendere,
/////////\\\\\\\\\ all things shall one day be
/////////__\\\\\\\\\    comprehended. Their search for
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\/
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\/

This collaboration of mortal entities is oriented towards achieving their
goals through law and order. They have weaved for themselves a highly
structured society. Yet they maintain a great love for the Ethereal, the
plane from which all mystical beings, even gods, arise. Within this strata,
they feel closer to the secrets of the ever-shifting cosmos, and gain great
power and knowledge by their interactions with it.

It is through a unity at once mortal and ethereal that the Ascendere rise above
the fray to illuminate the obscure corners of the Realms with the lamp of
knowledge; to bring system, structure, and order to the unfathomable ether;
and to assail the agents of chaos, subjecting them to their organized will.

Formation
Ascendere as a group was formed in November 1998 as a great bulk of the active Arcanes members decided to leave with the hopes of being coded as a new order. This group under the leadership of Covellia with Bede as the deity formed the last coded order Ascendere in March 1999, and have built from those foundations. No other groups have had an order coded since this time.
The ancient Inconnu strive endlessly to attain Golconda, the personal
perfection of knowledge, ability, and control over the bestial self.
The mastery of one aspect serves only to mark a beginning anew of the
trek for perfection down new paths. Largely indifferent to joy or
sorrow, pleasure or pain, and choosing to live in relative seclusion
from the world they often despise, the Inconnu care little for their
lesser brethren yet harbor no inherent desire to bring harm. Slow to
anger, but formidable when aroused, their elder status and power
affords them an uncommon respect.
Manifesto
In ancient times, savage creatures of all different classes, races, and
sexes fought as individuals, with little regard for others. Soon, these
creatures of the world began to see the wisdom of forming groups for survival.

The first of these groups was the family. Husband, wife, and children all
worked together to benefit the family. This method of organization still
lacked sufficient power and opportunity. After a number of centuries, the
first of the great guilds appeared, offering members a chance to unite based
on their chosen class. These guilds proved sufficient in providing for the
social needs of their members. However, guild members were often forced to
look outside of their guild for needed resources... In trying to fill this
void, several individuals began grouping together, and began what is now
called the Order of Ringbearers.

The primary goal of the Ringbearers' is to grasp the rings of truth, honor,
and knowledge. This is done through exploring the Realms, teaching and
learning from others, and staying respectful to all others.

Equality in all forms is a central ideal of the Order of Ringbearers. No
one class or race shall receive preference over another. All segments
must unite in a circle, or a ring of brotherhood, to deliver success.

In the Order of Ringbearers, all members shall have the right to voice
their opinions and vote on Order policy. No member shall be sanctioned
nor outcast for words they say while in the confines of the Order's
headquarters, or over Ordertalk, as long as they remain respectful and
honest to themselves and their fellow members.
Vampirism, in most legend, is a curse bestowed upon one individual by another already damned to exist as a Vampire. Vampirism in the Realms appears to be a curse of creation, for all those who subsist on blood are born to their existence. Fed and nurtured with blood, the Vampire learns early in unlife the ways of the predator. While a Vampire may drink from blood on the ground, such cool and congealed sustenance does not compare to warm and rich life stolen from the veins of a victim and stored within the Vampire. It is measured in blood points (bp). These blood points may be expended in the casting of spells or the use of vampiric abilities. A severely wounded Vampire will also intuitively draw on the power of the blood to heal themselves during battle. A Vampire will also instantaneously expend blood to remain functional during the daylight hours. No such expenditure is needed in the evening hours. During the twilight, a Vampire also gains a bonus to their armor class and the ability to transport themselves through mist once they are sufficiently skilled.

Fueled by the powers of their blood and the might of their inner Beast, a Vampire is amazingly quick and agile. Dexterity is their prime trait. However, their immortality affords them the ability to improve their mental attributes over time. This natural intelligence is a useful secondary attribute for the Vampire. Unlike other classes, the power of the blood enhances every attribute a Vampire possesses. A Vampire is deficient in neither mind nor body. Vampires are unduly affected by holy power, but resistant to unholy powers.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Vampirism, in most legend, is a curse bestowed upon one individual by
another already damned to exist as a Vampire. Vampirism in the Realms
appears to be a curse of creation, for all those who subsist on blood are
born to their existence. Fed and nurtured with blood, the Vampire learns
early in unlife the ways of the predator. While a Vampire may drink from
blood on the ground, such cool and congealed sustenance does not compare
to warm and rich life stolen from the veins of a victim and stored within
the Vampire. It is measured in blood points (bp). These blood points may
be expended in the casting of spells or the use of vampiric abilities. A
severely wounded Vampire will also intuitively draw on the power of the
blood to heal themselves during battle. A Vampire will also
instantaneously expend blood to remain functional during the daylight
hours. No such expenditure is needed in the evening hours. During the
twilight, a Vampire also gains a bonus to their armor class and the
ability to transport themselves through mist once they are sufficiently
skilled.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Fueled by the powers of their blood and the might of their inner Beast, a
Vampire is amazingly quick and agile. Dexterity is their prime trait.
However, their immortality affords them the ability to improve their
mental attributes over time. This natural intelligence is a useful secondary
attribute for the Vampire. Unlike other classes, the power of the blood
enhances every attribute a Vampire possesses. A Vampire is deficient in
neither mind nor body. Vampires are unduly affected by holy power, but
resistant to unholy powers.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
The curse of eternal life may be levied on Humans, Elves, Dwarves,
Halflings, Half-Ogres, Half-Orcs, Half-Trolls, Half-Elves, Gith, and Drow.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Paladins are the soldiers of the Divine. Their faith is the equal of a Cleric, yet their training is more dependent on physical skill, hence an accelerated strength. This training coupled with blessings from the Divine makes them a powerful force in His name. A Paladin cherishes wisdom as well as his strength. Single-minded devotion to the Divine, while justified in the estimation of the Paladin, leaves little mind for independent thought. Intelligence is not a prize highly sought by the Paladins.
accelerated strength. This training coupled with blessings from the Divine
makes them a powerful force in His name. A Paladin cherishes wisdom as
well as his strength. Single-minded devotion to the Divine, while
justified in the estimation of the Paladin, leaves little mind for
independent thought. Intelligence is not a prize highly sought by the
Paladins.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
The rigid strictures of the Paladin allow only Humans, Elves, and Half-
Elves.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
A beast who is idle will not long survive. A beast that takes more than it needs to live will soon find it has wasted what it needed to survive. The barbarians, who live as the beast does, know this as fact. They fail to comprehend how the towndwellers, with their bizarre magics and supposed book-wisdom, can not understand. To the barbarians, the decadence and selfishness of the towndwellers seems foolish. A life where the best interest of the individual surpasses the survival of the tribe is unthinkable. Though towndwellers would consider the barbarian life uncivilized and crude, it is a simpler way of life based on tradition, honor and duty to the spirits. The strength, courage and hardiness of the barbarian is honored only when it serves these beliefs.

Barbarians live in a daily struggle for survival. Strength is their foremost requirement, but constitution to endure long hunts and harsh living is a close second. Barbarians do not waste their time on idle pursuits like study and are deficient in intelligence as a result. As such they are unable to read or recite scrolls. Their superstitions concerning magicks render them highly susceptible to spellcasters and unable to use magic items.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
A beast who is idle will not long survive. A beast that takes more
than it needs to live will soon find it has wasted what it needed to
survive. The barbarians, who live as the beast does, know this as fact.
They fail to comprehend how the towndwellers, with their bizarre
magics and supposed book-wisdom, can not understand. To the barbarians,
the decadence and selfishness of the towndwellers seems foolish. A life
where the best interest of the individual surpasses the survival of the
tribe is unthinkable. Though towndwellers would consider the barbarian
life uncivilized and crude, it is a simpler way of life based on
tradition, honor and duty to the spirits. The strength, courage and
hardiness of the barbarian is honored only when it serves these beliefs.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Barbarians live in a daily struggle for survival. Strength is their
foremost requirement, but constitution to endure long hunts and harsh
living is a close second. Barbarians do not waste their time on idle
pursuits like study and are deficient in intelligence as a result. As
such they are unable to read or recite scrolls. Their superstitions
concerning magicks render them highly susceptible to spellcasters and
unable to use magic items.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
The hardiness required for the barbarian life allows Humans, Half-Elves
Half-Orcs, Half-Trolls, Half-Ogres and Dwarves to follow this lifestyle.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Vampires are unduly affected by holy power, but resistant to unholy powers.
to warm and rich life stolen from the veins of a victim and stored within
the Vampire.
----------------------------------------------------------------

Lizardmen are semi-aquatic, breathing air but often dwelling
totally underwater. They are often noted to use underwater
caves as their lair, and are typically found in swamps,
marshes, and similar places.

Members of this race band together in rough tribal fashion.
They are omnivores, and are likely to prefer Human flesh to
other foods. Due to this taste for Humans, they suffer if
their alignment strays too much towards the honorable side of
the spectrum.

Lizardmen, of course, possess the innate ability to breathe
under water and are additionally resistant to some slashing
attacks.

Before the Shattering the race began to slowly die. Some say
there was a new darkness in the marsh lands, other say that
inbreeding was the cause, but whatever the reason, all of the
Lizardmen progeny were stillborn. It now states in the lore
of the Lizardmen shaman that the black magicks of the Tower
of Despair poisoned the marsh. The survival of the race is
still uncertain.
An intermingling (carried out in the darker lands of the
on its heavily-muscled frame.

Owing in part to the black blood which courses through their
heavy veins, the heavily-scaled skin of the Half-Troll ranges
imbued with a wicked intelligence and the ability to see
naturally in the darkness. Half-Trolls usually make poor pure
Description
Far beyond the realm of mortals lies the Underworld, a realm
of fire, brimstone and ash. The great rifts created by the
Shattering further separated this land from the prying eyes of
foolish adventure seekers who risked their very soul for the
chance to meet the Mistress of the Dark.

Following the Shattering, no entrances to the Underworld could
be found, and it was even rumoured that Hell itself had been
cleft in two by the forces that broke the Realm. To see
whether Satan had finally been slain the three great Furies
were sent forth from Olympus to discover the truth. They
reported an opening into the world had been found, and that
many of the lesser demons within had grown in strength during
the long months of imprisonment. After this report, the Furies
were not heard from again.

Since the rumours of an opening to the Underworld have been
confirmed, scores of worshipers have attempted the journey.
Rumour has it that a Warlock living in the Kontaur forest has
even devised a way to send adventure seekers and worshipers
alike to the upper reaches of Hell itself. Those that do be
warned, Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

Area Notes
The Underworld is a big, dark, run mob-filled area. It's not for the inexperienced.

The Underworld is split into two main sections, Upper and Lower underworld with a vast rift separating the two. Upper underworld filled with minor demons and run mobs suitable for 2-4 players. Lower underworld on the other hand is tuned for larger more experienced run groups, with mobs such as Delphium, Satan, Ruler of Hell, Hurag, and the three furies Alecto, Megaera and Tisiphone.

Satan and the Furies are considered one of the more difficult runs currently available as their deaths require not only a decent mass but also considerable preparation and logistics. It is almost certain that more secrets still lie in the depths of The Underworld, yet to be discovered by valiant adventurers.
